Medical technology refers to the diagnostic or therapeutic application of science and technology to improve the management of health conditions. Technologies may encompass any means of identifying the nature of conditions to allow intervention with devices, pharmacological, biological or other methods to increase life span and/or improve the quality of life. Medical technology has developed in many fields which make the lives of human beings easier and more comfortable in many ways, but however, not all is beneficial. Procedures such as surgery if not properly carried out, can have negative effect on the patient such as permanent disfigurement or disability.
